About River City Hornets

The River City Hornets are a competitive U17 Fastpitch Softball team based in Edmonton, Alberta. Our team is made up of dedicated, hardworking young women who are looking for opportunities to grow and develop as elite athletes. We're part of the River City Softball family, which is built on a LOVE OF THE GAME philosophy.

Every member of our Club - from coaches, to players and their families - has a passion for being part of the team and working hard to ensure that each player can achieve their full potential.

World class skills clinics & Olympian Team Training Camps

An important component of off-season training is having access to “guest athletes” and specialized trainers. These training sessions have involved expert instruction from Canadian and USA National Team Players & Alumni, National Fastpitch Softball League players and world-class, award-winning players. Past sessions included NCAA Coaches and Elite International Coaches like Lincoln Martin and Austin Wasserman.

In January, 2022, River City Softball had the honour to be trained by Jen Salling, one of Canada’s Olympic Softball Team's 2020 Bronze Medalists!

On March 11-14, 2022 we hosted FIVE medal-winning, Canadian Olympic Softball Team players: Larissa Franklin, Jenna Caira, Erika Polidori, Janet Leung and Natalie Wideman. We were so privileged to have these incredible Canadian athletes come to Edmonton and provide some training, coaching and, more importantly, inspiration to our U17 team!

On August 25, 2022, our players trained with Canadian Olympic Team player and new Canadian Women’s National Team Head Coach, Kaleigh Rafter!
